об ядерную программу Египта
Читаю сейчас "The Culture of War" ван Крефельда, то есть её четвертую часть "A World without War?". Книга вышла в 2008г., то ест до последних событий в этой стране. Вот что он пишет об египетских планах на счет ЯО:
"The case of Egypt is even more interesting. Egypt used to have a nuclear energy program that was cut short in 1986, ostensibly in connection with the Chernobyl disaster. However, as one of its former representatives wrote in the semi-official Al-Ahram, it still retains the necessary funding and know-how; it is also has two 22-megawatt reactors useful for research and training.(13) Had it wanted to, it could have acquired the weapons years ago. So why did not its leaders take that road? A possible answer is that they are worried lest circumstances may again force them to confront Israel, their only conceivable enemy, in the future. To quote one Egyptian academic, acquiring nuclear weapons would make a war between the two countries "unthinkable." (14)
