Эти две цитаты, взятые из статьи Марка ван Ховена, почему то напомнили мне знаменитое высказывание Гераклита Эфесского про реку. Гераклит утверждал, что невозможно вступить два раза в одни и те же воды текущей реки. Но ван Ховен нам намекает, что с самим вступившем не происходят никаких изменений. Человек не умирает, национальная история не исчезает. А ведь на самом то деле, история нации это есть те самые воды.

На самом деле национальная история это своего рода форма, в которую пытаются впихнуть энную группу людей. Но количество их в ней постоянно меняется, и поэтому она сама меняется. Треугольник, который стал квадратом, потом элиппсом, потом опять треугольником. А на каком этапе это стало кругом. Утверждение, что форма круга была всегда, ошибочно.
